History in the “First City” of Leavenworth, Kansas continues to be made annually with the First City Treasure Hunt. For the seventh year running, seventeen merchants host a unique shopping experience found only in Leavenworth. Interestingly, all of the participating merchants are women who own or co-own and operate their own shops. This year, shoppers will once again experience the Treasure Hunt of a life time.
Shoppers will begin their Treasure Hunt by picking up a Treasure Map available at any downtown Leavenworth store flying green balloons at the door. Treasure Hunters (18 years and older) follow the Treasure Map to their next destination collecting a free and unique charm at each location while supplies last. Hunters must be sure to get their Treasure Maps stamped before moving to their next destination! Each Treasure Map that is completely stamped may be turned in to participating merchants in order to be entered in a drawing for prizes.
Treasure Hunters are thrilled each year by the extraordinary charm bracelet that they are able to put together by visiting each merchant. Bracelets are available at some shops for $5.00 or free with a $20 purchase.
The Treasure Hunt is always held in the third week of August and offers prizes totaling more than $700. The First City Treasure Hunt is one of the unique ways that historical Leavenworth continues to offer a truly unique and fun shopping experience.
